Abstract
629,378. Shoes. VAISEY, S. B., and BRISTOL, R. A. July 3, 1947, No. 17537. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1943. [Class 17 (ii)] A rearward upturned extension 16 to a sole 15 forms the back of a shoe upper to which the outwardly turned edges of a pair of quarters 17, 18, are stitched at 19, 20. A toe member 23 is attached by stitching at 24 to the sole, at 25 to the quarters and at 28 to the integral tongue and toe member 27. To give a smooth interior, the. stitching lies wholly outside the shoe except at 25 where the parts are skived, to give a smooth interior. In a modified form, the two quarters are joined at the top so that the sole extension extends only partly up the back of the shoe. The sole member can be of heavier leather than the other parts but not necessarily as heavy as a conventional outsole.
