[Class 64(iii)] In a bank of heat exchanger tubes, each tube 1 has two longitudinally - extending fins 2, 3 tangential to it at lines spaced 180 degrees apart on its periphery, and the tubes are arranged in rows with their fins lying in planes inclined to the general direction of flow A of one heat exchange fluid flowing transversely o v e r the tubes. The opposed fins 2, 3 on adjacent tubes in each row are arranged in the same plane and closely spaced to constitute a substantially continuous wall between the tubes, the rows being staggered to form a path of varying cross section to cause alternate expansion and compression of the fluid flowing over the tubes.
