626,059. Electrostatic precipitation. KREBS & CO. May 16, 1946, No. 14762. Convention date, Jan. 7. [Class 39 (i)] In a method of purifying by electrostatic precipitation a halogen, for example chlorine or hydrochloric acid gas, produced by electrolysis, sulphuric acid is added to the gas in an amount sufficient to coat particles of impurity, in a manner to produce a mist having a high conducting character, subsequent to the drying of the gas and prior to the electrostatic precipitation. The hydrochloric acid gas may subsequently be used in the liquid phase.
