Abstract
625,967. Hydraulic presses. ARCHER, C. S. Dec. 31, 1945, No. 35192. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Liquid is supplied to a hydraulic press by apparatus comprising a container 8 in which is a pump cylinder 3 and plunger 5. Air under pressure is admitted through pipe 16 and valve 17 to force liquid through the pump, and valve 13 and pipe 14 to the press. When a higher pressure is required, the plunger 5 is actuated. The valves 13 and 17 may be set to permit liquid to return from the pipe 14 to the container and air to escape from the container respectively. The amount of liquid in the container is sufficient to preclude air from entering the press.
