Abstract

625,929. Superheterodyne circuits. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and WOODHALL, N. M. Dec. 12, 1946, No. 36676. [Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi)] In a radio receiver having a clock-controlled switch, an intermediate frequency valve may be caused to oscillate at audio-frequency to produce an alarm signal in the loud-speaker. An intermediate frequency amplifier valve V1 having input and output tuned circuits 1 and 2 includes a switch 3 which when operated connects an inductor 4 of a tuned circuit comprising also condensers 5 and 8 into the screen grid circuit to cause audio-frequency oscillation. Condenser 7 feeds these oscillations to the grid of an output amplifier. It is suggested in the Provisional Specification that the switch 3 may be omitted, the oscillation stopped by the A.G.C. voltage when a signal is received.
