Abstract
625,796. Cigarette holders. EARLEY, D. R. July 1, 1947, No. 17330. [Class 130] A device for holding a cigarette or connecting it to a fresh cigarette comprises cylindrical split parts 1, 2 which can be contracted to grip the inserted cigarettes. Of the parts 1, 2, which are stamped from sheet material, the part 1 is stiffer and the part 2 becomes slightly conical as the right-hand end is contracted by movement to the left. The ends of the outer part 1 are connected by a loop 7 and brought closer together against a coil spring as it is rotated over projections 6. A lip 4 facilitates the entry of a fresh cigarette C<SP>1</SP>. The parts 1, 2 may have oval cross-section so that relative rotation produces the contraction or they may be contracted by screw means. The device may be covered with paper, plastic or silk so that it may be inserted between the lips and serve as an ordinary cigarette holder. If placed vertically on a table it acts as a cigarette extinguisher. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 113,416, 193,951, '[both in Class 130], and 434,463.
