Abstract
625,519. Paper or like bags. ROBINSON, P. G., and PAPER SACKS, Ltd. Aug. 6, 1947, No. 21440. [Class 94(ii)] A paper or like bag of the kind formed with a lined or sleeved valve is characterised in that the sleeve or liner, which is of plain paper or like material, is wider at its outer than at its inner end or is so folded that the outer end can readily assume a greater width than the inner end and thereby conform to the shape of a tapered filling nozzle. As shown, the sleeve 4 is formed from a sheet of paper having tapered longitudinal edges which are folded together and secured within a reinforcing strip 3 by the continuation of stitching 2 forming the closure means of the bag. The inner end of the sleeve is folded outwardly to form flaps 8 which are tucked over and secured to the inner ends of the turned-in valve corner of the bag, the edges 9 of the flaps conforming to the inclined folds 10 of the said corner. In a modification the sleeve is parallel-sided and is formed with a central longitudinal gusset adapted to allow expansion of the outer end.
