[Class 18] A box for cigarettes and matches comprises an outer casing, with a lid g at one end and a pair of finger openings h, j at the other, a U-shaped cigarette receptacle b3 siidably disposed between the casing wall a4 and a partition e and a spring d<SP>1</SP> to hold the shell c<SP>1</SP> of a match box immovably against casing wall a<SP>3</SP> with the striking surface accessible through slot f. When the fingers are inserted through apertures h, j, the slide b<SP>3</SP> with its cigarettes and the tray c<SP>2</SP> of the match box are projected for use, the upward movement of the slide also raising the hinged lid against spring action. In a modification, the lid is hinged to a plate fitting within the casing and movable with the slide through being secured to the base of slide b3 or by engagement of the slide with the lid g. Alternatively the lid g may be fixedly secured to the plate and the latter tapered towards its lower end so that, when partially projected, it can be moved to one side to facilitate removal of the cigarettes.
