Abstract
624,337. Spray-producers. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and SIMMONS, E. G. July 3, 1947, No. 17599. [Class 69 (iii)] An adjustable jet and spray producing nozzle comprises a body 1 having a liquid supply passage 3 leading to a cylindrical barrel 2 containing an axially adjustable jet member 28 having a conical nose 29 which may seal an outlet orifice 27. The member 28 has a central passage 33 and a number of peripheral helical grooves 36 extending throughout its length so that liquid may pass therethrough to the space 27a, or through an opening 31 in a cap member 30, shown closed in the drawing, to the passage 33 and nozzle 35. A crosshead 9 carrying a valve head 23 can be removed from the cap member 30 by rotating a control sleeve 13 to allow the emission of a straight jet through orifice 35. Further rotation of sleeve 13 effects the closing of opening 31 by the valve head 23, and removes the conical portion of member 28 from the outlet orifice 27 to allow the emission, via helical channels 36, of a fine spray.
