623,825. Centreless-grinding. AKTIEBOLAGET M. HOLMQUIST. Feb. 14, 1947, No. 4277. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1946. [Class 60] A slide carrying a dressing diamond in a centreless-grinding machine is adjustably arranged at an angle to the axis of an inclined control wheel 2, and the diamond 13 can be set at such a distance from the centre of its holder that the generation of the working surface of the wheel will be given a curved shape ensuring almost complete line contact with the work. The wheel 2 is rotatably journalled in a part 4 pivotally mounted on a slide 16 so that its inclination with respect to the grinding wheel 15 may be adjusted by a fine-pitch screw 6. The diamond is held eccentrically in its holder which may be rotated in its mounting and vertically adjusted by a fine-pitch screw 14. The mounting is supported on the slide which is longitudinally displaceable along the part 4 by a handwheel 8 and rotatable about its vertical axis 9 by a fine-pitch screw 10. This latter adjustment enables the direction of traverse of the slide to be inclined to the axis of the wheel so that the dressing operation produces an hyperboloid. The diameter of the workpiece governs the height at which it is set with respect to the grinding and control wheels, the distance of the diamond from a line passing through the centre of its holder and parallel to the direction of traverse of the slide, the inclination of the control wheel, and the inclination of the slide to the axis of the latter. These settings are obtained from a table, and a gauge corresponding to the workpiece is used for setting up.
