Abstract
623,175. Valve amplifying & pulse circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D. C. June 30, 1944, No. 12480. [Class 40 (vi)] In a broad-band amplifier, in which signals are applied to an input filter, the grids of a number of valves are connected to points on the filter, the output electrodes of the valves being connected to separate filters having the same pass-band. A connection is made between points on the output filters which give the same delay relative to the input signal. The output filters may be combined into a single tapered filter. Signals from the valve V1, Fig. 7, are applied to the input filter consisting of inductors L and stray and valve electrode capacities C, valves V2, V3, V4 being fed from appropriate tapping points in the filter. Similar filters are connected in the anode leads of the valves so that points P2, P3, P4 giving the total delay may be connected in parallel to an output terminal. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the three output filters are replaced by a common tapered filter, and in a further modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), the valves may be connected as cathode followers. The filters may be constructed of lengths of concentric cable, Fig. 12 (not shown). By shortcircuiting the tapered output filter, Fig. 13 (not shown), a pulse may be derived from a rectangular input waveform of duration determined by the sections between the output terminal in the line and the shorted end.
