Abstract
621,954. Gas turbine plant. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Dec. 3, 1945, No. 32670. Convention date, Oct. 10. [Class 110(iii)] A thermal power plant consisting of a steam boiler plant and a gas turbine plant the working medium of which is produced by the combustion of fuel in a combustion chamber has the gas turbine plant so designed that the amount of exhaust gas is greater than the amount of air required for combustion in the steam boiler plant when in normal operation and a part of the exhaust gas of the turbine plant serves as combustion air for the grate of the steam boiler and another part of the exhaust gas serves to preheat the feed water of the steam boiler plant. The air for combustion in the furnace of a steam boiler plant is supplied by the exhaust gases from a combustion gas turbine 9. The air supplied by the compressor 8 is pre-heated in the exchanger 11 heated by the exhaust gases from the turbine 9 before passing to the combustion chamber 10 the gases from which drive the turbine 9. The steam from the boiler may be used in a condensing turbine 62 or in a back pressure turbine 61 and a heat consumer 7. The excess exhaust gases from the turbine 9 are used to preheat the feed water for the boiler in a heat exchanger 42. The stack gases from the boiler may also be used to preheat the feed water. The gases leaving the heat exchanger 42 may be used in an' external heat consumer 71. The heat exchanger 11 may be omitted. Specifications 375,597 and 459,365 are referred to.
