621,829. Railway tractors. DROUARD, J. Jan. 10, 1947, No. 856. Convention date, Jan. 18, 1946. [Classes 79 (i) and 79 (iii)] A light tractor for railways comprising two side frames 2 and a transverse girder 1, four driving rollers 4 actuated by a driving shaft located in the girder 1 and a driving and reduction gear unit carried by one of the frames, is characterised by a transverse slide 18 provided on the girder 1 and by a jack 19 for sliding thereon and for supporting the coupling hook of a wagon to be hauled. The lower end of the vertically movable member of .the jack 19 may be fitted with a shoe 21 upon which the whole tractor is capable of pivoting when the member is suitably lowered to remove the tractor from the rails. The jack 19 may be removable to permit the substitution of a pivotally mounted platform for transportation of materials.
