Abstract

621,120. Helicopter airscrews. BONDI, J. W. Nov. 27, 1945, No. 31981. [Class 4] A helicopter airscrew 1 is mounted in the substantially cylindrical lower air outlet of an air duct 2 flared outwardly at the air inlet above the airscrew. The axis 3 of the airscrew 1 may be adjusted angularly with respect to the axis of the airduct 4, or vice versa, or the common axis of the airscrew and airduct may be adjusted angularly with respect to the helicopter frame. The duct 2 may be formed of parts 6 secured to the airscrew blades 7 and the adjacent ends 8 of parts 6 may overlap or be spaced apart. The airduct may be expanded or contracted in the manner of a photographic camera diaphragm.
