Abstract
620,483. Sharpening safety-razor blades. LEONARD, F. Dec. 12, 1946, No. 872. [Class 60] For flexible safety-razor blades, a sharpening device of the type incorporating a base member 1 presenting a convexly curved surface 3, a top plate 6 presenting a mating concavely curved surface 7, a handle 10, and means for clamping the blade 13 to be sharpened between said mating surfaces with the cutting edges of the blade projecting therefrom, the said base member 1 being provided with two side pins or projections 5 which are spaced one on each side of a central screwthreaded stem 4 and in line therewith, is characterized in that the handle 10 is penetrated by a rotatable screw-threaded socket 11 which, at one end, presents a nut external to the handle 10 and, at the other end 12<SP>1</SP>, is splayed, whereby the said socket 11 is rotatable within the handle 10 but is not withdrawable therefrom, the central screw-threaded stem 4 of the base member 1 being adapted to be screwed into the said socket 11. The handle 10 may, instead of being parallel to the flat undersurface 2 of the base member 1 be at right angles or at an acute angle thereto. The handle 10 may also have a normal screwed socket 15 to receive the stem of a pair of blade clamping plates for use as a razor.
