Abstract
618,892. Statistical-apparatus. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DE MACHINES AUTOMATIQUES DE COMPTABILITE. Aug. 1, 1946, No. 23009. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1943. [Class 106 (i)] In a record-card controlled machine having a comparing device comprising two registers for primary and secondary numbers respectively, each register including a set of relays 1 to 5 and S1 to S5 for each denomination. The relays of corresponding denominations control contacts in a comparing circuit whereby, according to the setting of the contacts, a testing impulse (entering at 19) is passed to one of three output wires indicating (a) primary number lower (wire 22) ; (b) primary number higher (wire 21 ; or (c) equality, in which case the impulse passes (by wire 20) to the comparing circuit of the next lower denomination, and so on. In the embodiment, the relays are arranged according to a code in which relays 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 represent the odd numbers 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, when energized alone, but when relay 5 is energized together with one of the relays 1 . . . 4, these latter represent the numbers 2, 4, 6 and 8. A relay 13 of the primary register controls the circuit by which the relays S1 to S4 of the other register, control the comparing circuit, unless its opposite number S13 is energized also, and vice versa.
