Abstract

618,685. Air filters. BRAND, A. N. Sept. 7, 1946, No. 26960. [Class 8 (ii)] In an air filter of the kind comprising textile fabric filter tubes 11 or like enclosures open at one end, the other end of each tube has a removable closure 19 to permit entry of scouring air which passes along the filtering surface of the tube. During normal operation, dustladen air from an inlet 17 passes into each tube interior and thence through the fabric walls to a clean air conduit 20. To clean the inner surface of any particular tube the appropriate closure 19 is removed to allow scouring air to enter the tube and pass along the whole surface thereof before escaping through the open lower end and thence passing with normal dust-laden air up and through the other tubes to the exhaust conduit 20. The resistance to air flow in the normal suction system is such that a small proportion only of the scouring air passes through the wall of the filter tube being cleaned.
