Abstract

617,736. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 29, 1946, No. 32104. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1945. [Class 38 (i)] A socket 2 for a tubular discharge lamp 1, comprising a base 4 and an upright part 5 in which resilient blade contacts 6 are located behind contact-entry apertures 7, is slidably mounted in an adapter 12 in turn secured to a reflector 3. The adapter is of sheet metal and comprises a supporting plate 13, opposite sides of which have U-shaped arms 14 extending therefrom and fitting over the socket-base 4 so as to form a guide-channel for the latter, the rear of the plate 13 carrying a spring blade 15 engaging the rear of the socket to urge it into engagement with the end of the lamp.
