Abstract

617,353. Liquid-fuel burners. HURTAJ, R. June 14, 1946, No. 17912. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] Heavy fuel is vaporized in a carrier stream of air in chambers 1, 2, is mixed with more air in units 3 and is burnt in a combustion chamber 4. Compressed air is introduced tangentially to the chamber 1 at three levels. The first is to an upper part 17. The second is to a part 18 and at this level a light hydrocarbon is also injected which is ignited initially by a sparking-plug 25 and later by a hot point 24. The third level is to a part 19 and at this level the main heavy fuel is injected. Vaporization is continued in the chamber 2 and the fuel, with the carrier air, is discharged through a nozzle 32.
