Abstract

Rubber of a predetermined plasticity is obtained by treating natural rubber latex with aqueous hydrogen peroxide of 20-250 volume strength at a temperature below 60 DEG C. and separating the rubber by coagulation from the treated latex. The latex which may be stabilized with casein is preferably treated by several additions of peroxide at a temperature of 30 DEG C. and is subsequently cooled to 10-15 DEG C. to produce after coagulation a rubber having a fluidity of 1800 DEG Barbey when measured at 56 DEG C. Other plasticites may be obtained by mixing this treated latex with definite quantities of natural latex and then coagulating the mixture. The treatment is preferably effected in enamelled sheet metal vats. Specification 603,095 is referred to.
