[Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] A combined automatic and hand-operated cartridge feed mechanism has a quadrantshaped cartridge table for moving a cartridge from the introducing position x on the gun trunnion axis to a charging-bridge at a gunfeeding position y parallel to the gun's axis, the introducing position being thus unaffected by movement of the gun in elevation. In the form shown, one arm 17 of a three-armed lever pivoted at 9, carries a roller 18 which engages in channel 20 on the gun barrel. A second arm 16 actuates an arcuate feed-plate 15. On run-out of the gun, the roller engaging in the channel 20 moves arm 17 in direction 42 so that feed-plate 15 moves cartridges, engaged each by a spring-actuated pawl 22, towards the charging bridge 3. On recoil, the feedplate is moved away from the bridge the pawls 22 being swung aside. A lever 13 linked to feed-plate 15 moves a feed bar 11 so that a cartridge-carrier 10 moves a cartridge from the table to the charging-bridge 3. When hand feeding is used for initial charging of the table, the feed is controlled by a crankhandle 35 and the automatic feed is locked in position. In hand loading, a similar threearmed lever arrangement pivoted at 14 moves an arcuate feed-plate 27 which feeds the cartridges in the same way as the feed-plate 15. The third arms 36, 39 of each three-armed lever are connected to a further lever system which controls a pressure bar 40 regulating the feed of cartridges to the table from a larger cartridge magazine.
