615,509. Winding yarn. CLARK, D. M. (Abbott Machine Co.). Nov. 7, 1945, No. 12188/48. Divided out of 615,439. Drawings to Specification. [Class 120(ii)] In an automatic yarn winding machine including a plurality of winding units, each having means for rotatably holding a bobbin, a thread guide and means for progressively advancing the zone of traverse of the guide along the bobbin, away from the base and toward the tip, so as to distribate the thread in nested conical layers, and winding unit tending mechanism associated with the units successively and adapted to replace a wound bobbin of a unit with a fresh bobbin, there is included means co-operating with the units successively to cause each successive thread extending to a wound bobbin to be led back toward the base of its bobbin, while the bobbin is held by the holding means preparatory to replacement of that bobbin by the tending mechanism, and means for rotating the wound bobbin while the thread is being led back. The machine described is substantially the same as that described in Specification 615,439 to which reference is made. Specifications 604,354 and 608,219 also are referred to.
