Abstract

July 30, 1946, No. 22653, [Class 135] The release of liquid from the cylinder n, Fig. 1, of a servo-piston o controlling the position of the swash-plate f of a variable delivery pump, is regulated by a spring-loaded piston valve u formed with ducts 2, y, Fig. 2, and a nozzle z carrying a sealing washer 6 coacting with a fixed plate 4 provided with ports 5 and disposed in a pipe connected to the cylinder. When the pressure in the cylinder exceeds a predetermined value, the nozzle is raised from the plate 4 and the liquid flows into the valve casing 7 and thence through the duct 8 to the pump inlet k. The spring 3 loading the valve consists of a cylinder formed with slits 10. In a modification, the piston valve is replaced by a spring-loaded or resilient diaphragm.
