Abstract

613,305. Plant-supporting frames; fencing. SANKEY & SONS, Ltd., J., and HELDEN, W. VAN. June 18, 1946, No. 18238. [Classes 6 (ii) and 45] Plant-supporting framing or fencing, consisting of channeled uprights and longitudinals as described in Specification 568,426, is constructed so that the overall length is adjustable to compensate for inequalities in the ground. The upper longitudinals may be engaged with the uprights by studs 19 or the like, while the lower longitudinals are slidably engaged with tongues 24 pressed up from the uprights. The ends of the longitudinals may either engage each other or lie side by side on the uprights. To permit engagement of one channeled member with its neighbour, they or their ends are made of differing section, the channels having sloping sides. Parallel sets of supports may be connected by transverse channeled strips 20 with downturned ends 21 engaging slots 22 in the uprights, and supplementary channelled longitudinals may be laid on and secured to such transverse strips.
