612,015. Folding vehicle. roofs. DOLPHIN, J. R. V. Feb. 18, 1948, No. 4992. [Class 108 (i)] A body for an automobile, boat, aircraft or other vehicle, convertible from an open to a closed condition, has its roof-piece 13 hinged to the top of the back part of the vehicle 14, which carries a pair of rods 15 pivoted to the frame of the vehicle at 25, and having their lower ends secured to two helical springs 17. To convert the vehicle to the open condition, the roof-piece 13 is swung back by handle 20 so that the back part 14 folds over into the luggage space and lies beneath the roof-piece 13. Springs 17, which are then so tensioned as to assist the movement back to the closed condition, may be replaced by counterweights or electric or hydraulic power means.
