Abstract
611,438. Bearings. RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO., Ltd., and HICKLING, F. O. April 29, 1946, No. 12825. [Class 12 (i)] A roller bearing assembly unit comprises a one-piece tubular raceway element having its ends bent over to provide axial thrust faces for the rollers and means on one or both of the said ends to retain the rollers detachably. A tubular metal raceway body 2 has one end 3 bent to form a trough-like depression 9 and the other end 4 reduced in thickness and bent at right angles to the body, to form the thrust faces 6 and 6 for the rollers. The end 4 is recessed to house a flange of a solid or split retaining ring 10 of spring steel or other resilient material, and of bowed form in section as shown in Fig. 8 to clip within the said end. Alternatively, the retaining ring may be cylindrical in form, with a flange at one end fitting into an annular groove formed in the internal periphery of the end 4 of the raceway.
