[Class 57] [Also in Group XXXIV] A centrifugal governor for controlling the speed of a spindle 1 of an electric motor, consists of a block 5, mounted on the end of the spindle 1, having two radial arms 8 carrying peripheral centrifugal members 9, which are provided with friction linings 12 adapted to engage the internal wall of a drum 3. The members 9 are connected to one another by springs 10. Internal auxiliary centrifugal members 13, which are arranged to slide on the arms 8, can be immobilised, if required, against the action of centrifugal force by a regulating knob 15, having a rim 19 which bears against bosses 20 provided on the upper surface of the members 13. By releasing the members 13, a lower controlled speed is obtained.
