Abstract
3 : 4 - Dichloro - 5 - nitro - 2 - aminophenol - 6 - sulphonic acid is obtainable by forming the benzoxazolone from 3 : 4 - dichloro - 2 - amino - phenol-6-sulphonic acid by means of phosgene, nitrating, and then opening the oxazolone ring with alkaline agents. Specifications 11196/06, [Class 2], 145,053, [Class 2 (iii)], and 460,561 are referred to.ALSO:Chromable azo dyestuffs, suitable for use in the metachrome dyeing process, are manufactured by coupling diazotized 4-chloro- or 3 : 4-dichloro-5-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid with 5 : 8-dichloro-1-naphthol. Examples are given of the production of both dyestuffs, of which the first dyes wool from an acid bath in red-violet shades becoming bluish-grey on after-chroming, whilst the second dyes wool from an acid bath in blue-violet shades and yields greenish-blue dyeings by after-chroming or by the single-bath chroming process. Specifications 11196/06, [Class 2], 145,053, [Class 2 (iii)], and 460,561 are referred to.
