Abstract

609,784. Vanity cases. ROSENFELD, M. Y. March 22, 1946. No. 8894. [Class 18] [Also in Group VII] In a vanity box of the kind in which a casing having a number of compartments forms part of a bracelet, the compartments are formed in a blank or block secured in a frame to which curved wrist bands are hinged. The box is made from a rectangular block 5 of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark "Bakelire," for example. Formed in its upper surface is a circular cavity 6 for face powder, a filter screen 7, and a powder puff. The cavity is covered by a metal lid 8 mounted on a hinge 9 formed on a metal frame 10 in which the blank 5 is clamped. Curved wrist bands 11, 12, preferably of metal, are hinged on the frame 10 at 9 and 13. The lid 8, which contains a mirror 14, carries a spring clip 15 for engaging over the hinge pin 13, and is provided with a rubber washer 16 to ensure that the compartment 6 is watertight when closed. On the upper surface of the lid 8 is a shallow metal cup 17 for rouge, having a hinged snap-closure lid 18. Holes 19, 19a, 20, 20a, for a lipstick, perfume bottle, eye pencil and nail file, respectively, are bored on either side of the cavity 6 ; two holes 19, 20, extend from one side of the block 5, and two 19a, 20a, from the other. The lipstick, eye pencil and nail file are mounted in metal tubes held by friction in the holes. Each article has a projecting knurled head to facilitate withdrawal. A curved comb 25 has studs 26, 27, at each end for engaging in recesses on the inside of the wrist band 11.
