Abstract

609,473. Vehicle wheels. ANDRE RUBBER CO., Ltd., and GILLETT, T. March 15, 1946, No. 8111. [Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii)] Tractor and like wheels are fitted with groundengaging strakes consisting of arch-section metal base-plates each formed with one or more ridges which are covered with rubber. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the plates B are formed with a single rib, the rubber covering E having two spaced ground-engaging ribs E<SP>1</SP>. In this form, the strakes are arranged in two staggered rows to provide a continuous rubber tread-surface. Fig. 8 shows a modification in which the strake, adapted to extend obliquely across the full width of the wheel rim, has two ribs Fl with spaced rubber treads G<SP>1</SP>. In all cases, the base-plates are bolted to the wheelrim.
