Abstract
609,194. Automatic exchange systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 8, 1946, No. 7324. Convention date, March 31, 1945. [Class 40 (iv)] An impulse storing and repeating device comprises a leader member stepped by a first magnet in response to received impulses and follower member stepped by a second magnet through a self-interruption circuit, a switch in this circuit being opened by the engagement of the follower member with the leader. In the example shown, the members are ratchet wheels, only the follower 7 being visible. The magnet 28 steps this through a pawl 21 mounted on an armature 24 and 25 and also operates interrupter contacts 35, 38 and 39. Cams on one ratchet cause axial movement of a collar secured to the other ratchet to operate contacts 15 and 16 when the follower catches the leader and thus stop the stepping. In the circuit shown the incoming line is connected to terminal 44 and thus magnet 27 steps the leader wheel. Contacts 15 and 16 then close and magnet 28 commences to step the follower under the influence of the interrupter contacts which also transmit impulses to the relay 60 in the attached register.
