[Class 38 (v)] A mounting block for relay contact spring sets comprises a base part 41, and two webs 46 carrying a bridge-piece 50. Parallel slots are cut in the base and bridge-piece by a number of cutters mounted on the same shaft, to produce identical slot spacing in all blocks. The contact blades 11 are formed with projections 14, 15, or transverse ribs, Fig. 2 (not shown), to make them a force fit in the slots, the fixed contacts being supported at the far end in the slots 44 in the bridge-piece 50. The slots are coated with cementing shellac before insertion of the contact blades. The notched movablecontact operating bar 53 slides in grooves 45 in the webs. When the number of springs is less than the number of slots, a packing piece is inserted in the empty slots to prevent the partition walls from bending. In Fig. 6, the webs 46 are replaced by two rigid blades 62, 63 mounted in slots similarly to the contact springs, to carry a notched supporting bar 64, and guide the operating bar 65. In Fig. 9 (not shown), the slots do not extend to the edges of the block, and receive transversely-ribbed side tongues on the contact springs.
