Abstract

A solid insect-repellant or insecticide is composed of a naphthalene-enveloped kernel consisting of solid paraffin with which a volatile insect repellant or insecticide, e.g. oil of citronella, has been alternately mixed. Melted paraffin wax and oil of citronella may be mixed and formed into small cylinders which are then immersed in molten naphthalene for a sufficient number of times to form a layer of the desired thickness. Other shapes such as globules or discs may be made and the finished article may be provided with a string or hook or may be provided with one or more holes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the employment of paradichlorobenzene, phenol and thymol as the volatile insect repellant or insecticide. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
