[Class 69 (iii)] An atomizer or spraying equipment for highpressure fluid comprises at least two plates secured together and having abutting faces provided with grooves to form jet-orifices. As shown in Fig. 5, plates 20, 21 are provided with grooves 22 out of alignment to form orifices 23, the grooves at one end being open at the perimeter of the plates and at the other end communicating with an inlet 1 for the supply. The device is supported by a universal joint 25, 26 and is adjustable by a handle 27. Fig. 8 shows another arrangement in which plates 16, 17 are provided with grooves 19, 20 and held by a nut 15 and a shank 15a to permit relative lateral movement between stops 18 by a 'handle 16a so as to produce a number of jets or a mist according to whether the grooves on the two plates are in or out of alignment. The grooves in the plates may be tapered outwardly from the inlet. In a further modification, a number of annular plates having grooves are secured between two dome-shaped end members, Fig. 1 (not shown). The spray may be used for cleansing containers, fire extinguishing, spraying fruit-trees, &c. In an arrangement for cleansing containers, the spray is mounted on a universal joint and is intermittently connected to alternative sources of supply by cam-operated valves. The device may be provided with an anti-splash plate or cover.
