6 0 2,2 5 1. Calender rollers. BATES, E. B. April 24, 1945, No. 10234. Addition to 568,740. [Class 34(i)] In a hollow calender roller 10 which is heated by a non-rotatable finned radiator 12, located therein, through the medium of a heat-conducting liquid 16, the interior surface of the, or each, roller trunnion 11 is provided with a screwthread 23 or 23<1> adapted to direct back to the inside of the roller any liquid leaking between the trunnion and the radiator heat-supplying conduit or conductor 13 or 14 encircled thereby; alternatively the screwthread is formed on the, or each, said conduit 13 or 14. In the drawing, which shows a roller adapted to rotate clockwise as viewed from the left-hand end, the internal thread 23 at the one end is left-handed and the thread 23<1> at the other end is of opposite hand.
