Abstract
602,016. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Sept. 17, 1945, No. 23941. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1944. [Class 8 (i)] In a fan suction cleaner of the type'adapted for conversion to off the floor cleaning and comprising a nozzle I connected to a fan chamber 6 by an air passage 2 into which projects a pulley 19 by which is driven an agitator 17, the converter 31 is shaped to be inserted through an aperture 41 in the top wall of the nozzle to make sealing contact with the walls of the passage 2 and with the end remote from the nozzle and in the vicinity of the pulley shaft II, to close the space round the pulley or its shaft. The converter is retained by a latch 37. The aperture 41 is normally. closed by a cover 42 pivoted at 43 and held in either the open or closed position by a spring 44. On opening the cover 42 the nozzle is raised from the floor by relative downward movement of nozzle supporting wheels 21 carried by a spring-biassed cranked shaft 23 connected to the cover 42 by a pivoted link 51 extending through a second aperture 52 in the top wall of the nozzle. A lamp shining through a window 16 illuminates the surface to be cleaned. Specifications 465,658, 511,586 and 576,703 are referred to.
