Abstract
601,841. Cutting-out dies for boots &c. BOSTOCK, G. S., and SHARPLES, T. G. Oct. 5, 1945, No. 25946. [Class 31(i)] [Also in Group VII] A machine for cutting-out and marking leather to form blanks suitable for boots and shoes of different sizes is constructed with a base 5 which is adapted to be mounted in a stamping press in known manner, and upon the base 5 is mounted by means of posts 6a and bolts 6b a platform 6 formed with a series of tapped holes 6c for receiving screws 9 bv means of which a cutting-out knife 8 adapted for shoes of different sizes is secured to the platform 6. A pad 8b for ejecting the finished blank is mounted near the knife 8. A marking-device 14a is secured to a spring-supported plate 14 mounted on a platform 12 secured to a plate 11 in the same manner as the platform 6 is secured to the base-plate, and the plate 11 is adjustably mounted in undercut guides 10 on the plate 5 so as to be adjustable in position for dealing with shoes of different sizes. This adjustment is effected by means of a link 15 and lever 16 operated by a lever 17 fitted with locking projections 17c. Fig. 4, engageable in notches 19c in a graduated arcuate guide 19. The plate 5 is fitted with spring-mounted plates 23 fitted with markers 23a for marking the counter portions, and the plates 23 are mounted and adjusted similarly to the plates 14. Marking-devices for ornamentation, as indicated by chain lines 25a, are mounted on platforms 25 secured to the base plate 5 similarly to the method of securing the platforms 14, 23, but these platforms 25 are not adjustable in position.
