Abstract
600,347. Door closers. WEBBERLEY, D. J. March 19, 1.946, No. 8468. [Class 65 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] A door closer comprises two helical torsion springs disposed one within the other, and one end of each spring is connected to an actuating member while the other ends are connected together, rigidly or flexibly. The springs f and h are anchored at their lower ends to a disc g. The upper end of spring f is anchored to a sleeve b which passes through a cover a and carries at its upper end a disc c. The upper end of spring h is anchored to an inner sleeve i carrying at its upper end a disc k. The cover is provided with a projection against opposite sides of which projections on the discs c and k normally abut. The latter projections are adapted to be engaged alternatively by a downward projection on an arm carried by a spindle which rotates in the holes o in the inner sleeve and the disc g. In a modification, means are provided for adjusting the initial tension of the springs. The inner spring may be replaced by a spiral spring or by a rubber member functioning as a spring.
