Abstract
600,030. Pressure - regulating valves. TALLEY, F. B. May 17, 1945, No. 12397. [Class 135] A pressure-reducing valve for use, e.g. in administering anaesthetics, comprises a casing 8, Fig. 1, having inlet and outlet passages 13, 16 respectively and provided with a nozzle 18 which coacts with a valve closure 10 carried by a member 9 attached at its upper end to a collar 5. Between the collar 5 and a cupshaped member 19 is secured a diaphragm 6 whose periphery is held between the casing and a ring 3 provided with lugs 2 which engage the arms of a leaf-spring 1, Fig. 3, secured to a nut 7 on a bolt 4 having a plain part slidable in the member 19. In operation, the valve is opened by the inlet pressure assisted by the leaf-spring, the loading of which may be adjusted, and closed when the outlet pressure acting on the underside of the diaphragm exceeds the opening pressure.
