Abstract
598,074. Thermally-actuated valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., and SHERLOCK, J. E. May 14, 1945, No. 12078. [Class 135] A thermostatic device for gas ovens wherein the movements of hand-actuating means are transmitted to a gas supply regulating valve and to a cock for opening or closing the gas supply by the thermally responsive rod and tube 23, 24, Fig. 1. The latter are threaded together at their outer ends 30 where the tube carries a knob 28 for operating the on-off supply cock 12, and the rod carries a knob 27 whereby the rod may be moved axially through the thread 30 to adjust the spring-loaded disc valve 9. In a modification, the rod and tube are operated by a single knob 42, Fig. 4. After the first 90 degrees of turning, the cock opens and remains open through a peripheral groove 37 during further turning in which the threaded end of the rod moves the non-rotatable sleeve 38 axially to adjust the disc valve.
