Abstract
597,954. Jet-propulsion of aircraft. SOC. RATEAU, and ANXIONNAZ, R. June 11, 1945, No. 14754. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1942. [Class 110 (iii)] In a gas turbine plant for the jet-propulsion of aircraft, in which part of the air from the low-pressure stage of the air compressors is discharged direct to the propulsion jet, the discharge to the jet is controlled by a valve which may be operated automatically or by the pilot. In one form, the cylindrical valve m controls the passage of the air to the jet p<2> and it is operated in conjunction with a spear control j of an auxiliary propulsion jet t<11>. Movement of the control point g to the right first closes the spear control and thereafter opens the valve m. In running up to speed, the spear control is fully open when the plant is started and is gradually closed as the speed rises. The plant is run to a specific speed with both spear control and valve m closed, the valve m is then opened wide and gradually closed as the speed further increases.
