597,095. Unwinding yarn. DEWAS, R. March 10, 1945, No. 6013. Convention date, June 13, 1942. [Class 120 (ii)] A support for a rayon cake &c. 5, during unwinding at 11 of the kind toroidally enveloped in a tubular protective wrapper 6, is characterised in that the cake is supported wholly on the lower part 6<1> of the wrapper that is extended over an annular space 9 to form an elastic skirt secured to the rim of a pan-like element 2, 3 mounted on a spindle &c. 8, the skirt being tensioned by anchoring the upper part 6" of the wrapper to the. centering means 1, 7 for the cake. The part 6<1> of the wrapper is held to the element 3 by a rubber ring 10 and to the sleeve 7 by a heavy cap 12. The spigot 1 and element 2, 3 may be of oval shape to suit packages of this form. In a modification the element 2, 3 is formed in one piece from plastic material, the ring 10 engaging in a groove about the rim of the element. Specification 597,145 is referred to.
