Abstract
597,070. Releasable couplings; tent poles; ladders. LORHO, A., and LORHO, F. Aug. 8, 1945, No. 20383. Convention date, April 6, 1944. [Classes 20(i) and 20(ii)] [Also in Groups XIV and XXVIII] A releasable coupling for joining two members 9, 9<1>, Fig. 1, consists of two components A, B having hook parts a, a<1> and nose parts b, b<1> formed with cylindrical surfaces 3, 3<1>, 7, 7<1>, so that the hook part of one member is engaged and held by the nose part of the other member where the components are assembled at right angles as in Fig. 3, and turned to the dotted line position shown. The coupling may be locked by a resilient member 12, Fig. 5, engaging in slots 10, 11 in the components A, B. A further locking device, Fig. 6, consists in a spring loaded ball 13 in the component B which engages a recess 15 in the component A. A further locking device consists of a stirrup attached to one component which embraces the other in the engaged position and a pin which passes through the said stirrup and components. In a further locking device a hook on one component engages a pin in the other. A still further device consists of a sleeve which is slid over the completed joint. The coupling may be used for connecting parts of tents e.g. tent poles, or the sides of sectional ladders.
