Abstract
595,611. Stoppers for bottles; bungs. TORPEY, J. A. Nov. 15, 1944, No. 22533. [Classes 21 and 125 (iii)] A plug or stopper for bottles or other containers comprises an imperforate cork 7 secured in a recessed head 3 of moulded plastic material Projecting from the base 6 of the recess are a number of prongs 4, ridges 9 or the like, moulded integrally with the head, which enter the cork 7 and prevent relative turning. The prongs 4 may be formed on the wall of the recess and may be undercut at 8 to enable a greater area of the cork to be secured to the base 6. The ridges, which are chisel-edged, may be disposed radially or parallel to each other or the head may have a single diametrical ridge 9.
