Abstract
595,483. Heating buildings. CORNERCROFT, Ltd., and RYCROFT, N. July 5, 1945, No. 17128. [Class 64 (ii)] For heating buildings an electrically driven pump 11 drives a liquid round a closed pipeline circuit 9 containing a plurality of electric heating means 5, and radiators 4. Control means 13 are provided to ensure that the heaters all operate however many radiators are in circuit as long as the heating medium does not rise above a predetermined temperature. The heating elements 5a, Fig. 2, may be contained in lagged tubes 7 each connected in parallel by means of an intake pipe 4a and outlet pipe 10 with aperture 10a with a radiator. Each radiator has the usual cut-off valve 4b. Baffle means 6a ensure that when a radiator is switched off liquid flows through tube 7 sufficiently slowly to be heated by heater 5a. When the liquid medium reaches the predetermined temperature, thermostat 13 operates a relay and cuts out the heating elements until the temperature falls below the predetermined figure. A control switch may be provided to make or break all circuits at an appointed time. A tank 15 with non-return valve 16 and expansion pipe 9a provides liquid to make up for losses. Fuses for the heater may be located at a central control point or adjacent each immersion heater.
