Abstract
594,675. Two-part couplings; lamp sockets. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., JENKINS, H. G., and MILES, E. E. Feb. 21, 1945, No. 4375. [Class 38 (i)] To enable two-pin tubular lamps to be used with " floating sockets not secured to a common base, a device to prevent axial movement of the lamp out of the socket comprises a U-shaped metal plate 18 attached to the socket so that it engages a groove 24 in the lamp cap. In the socket shown, the lamp pins, after insertion by lateral movement and rotation through 90 degrees, occupy recesses 28, 29 between the contacts 13, 14, respectively, and a central slotted pillar 15, moulded integral with the socket body. The arrangement may alternatively be such that contact is made by insertion alone.
