Abstract

593,979. Electric heating resistances. CALLENDER - SUCHY DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd., and SUCHY, C. T. June 21, 1945, No. 15847. [Class 39 (iii)] A heating resistance is formed by immersing a clean dry rod or body of insulating or refractory material in a solution of stannous chloride, drying it and immersing it in a silver solution and a reducing agent for a predetermined time to form a skin of metal of required resistance. Conductive end caps and terminal connections are formed by electro-deposition of metal on the metallized body, and either the intermediate part is protected from deposition or the rod is covered throughout its length and the metal on the intermediate part is reduced to a desired thickness. The heater may be encased in refractory material, e.g. refractory enamel. Specifications 572,071 and 575,148, [both in Group XXXVI], are referred to.
