[Class 138 (ii)] Means for releasing the pressure between the rollers of a wringer rapidly in emergency consists of a toggle formed of an outer channel section handle 14 pivoted at 13 to the top bar 8 and at 15 to a link 16 which is pivoted at the other end 21 to a channel-section link 20 pivoted to a bracket 18 bolted to the cast base 1 integral with the side stiles 2 and 3. When closed down as shown in Fig. 2, the toggle formed by the handle 14 and link 16 holds the link 20 with its button 31 against a stop 30 on a lever 26, Fig. 4, pivoted at 29 to the stile. The lever 26 is held by a spring 25 in a central position so that for working position the button rests against the stop holding the toggle overset and stable. The release bar 22 forms a rectangular loop with two sides parallel to the rollers, one 'on each side and one short side pivoted to the stile 2. The other short side consists of two flattened ends attached to a plate 23 pivoted at 24 to the stile 3 and held normally central by the lever 26, to which it is coupled by a slot 28 embracing a peg 27. Thus, pressure on either long side of the bar 22 displaces the stop 30 allowing the link 20 to fall in and upset the toggle and the top bar and upper roller to rise. The pivot 7 is lodged in the curled-over end of a sheet metal bracket 6 held in a groove in the stile 2 by its lower end curled over a pin 10 carried in lugs 11 which with lower lugs 12 serve as attachments for the gear-box and driving unit. The pivot pin 7 and either of the pins 13 or 21 may be disengageable for removal of the top bar.
