Abstract

593,168. Machinery guards. GARDNER & SONS (GLOUCESTER), Ltd., W., and GARDNER, F. C. June 7, 1945, No. 14372. [Class 80 (iv) [Also in Group II] A machine comprising a sifter 3 disposed above a mixer 8 is provided with an inspection door 9 which co-acts with a pivotal guard 11 so that when the door is open the guard takes up a position to prevent the hands of the operator from contact with the helical blades of the mixer and when the door is closed the guard is swung into an out of the way position. As shown the guard is a rectangular grid supported on stops 15 when the door is opened. The outer edge of the guard is engaged by the door when it is being closed so that the guard swings about pivots 12 into an inclined position parallel with the door. The door gives access for adjustment of.the bearings of the rotary brush 4.
