Abstract
592,744. Pumps. HARPER, W. A., and REBBECK, SIR F. E. March 20, 1945, No. 29069/46. Divided out of 592,713. Drawings to Specification. [Class 7 (ii)]. A blower is driven through two similar slipping clutches which may be of the hydraulic, pneumatic or friction type, and which are coupled together in succession. The supply of fluid to the clutches is controlled by a valve operated by the engine starting lever, lag in the flow of liquid being provided so that, in starting, one coupling is first engaged and, in stopping, the other coupling is first disengaged. The lag is produced by a chamber or length of piping in the liquid connection.
